Balance sheet share capitol question ?

Is this field for shares issued in that tax year only or for all shares issued historically. For example we historically during incorporation issued 1000 shares but none in this tax year. So should this field be 0 or 1000 ?
The help on this field just says 'The value of shares issued to shareholders' so is not specific.
Any ideas / clarification ?

It should be your historic amount and if each share is £1 then that should be £1000.
