How to Cancel Your Subscription
You can cancel your Clear Books Tax subscription at any time from your billing page. This guide explains how.
How to Cancel
- Go to your Billing & Subscriptions page
- Find the subscription you want to cancel (Solo, Portfolio, Dormant, or any company add-on)
- Click Cancel subscription
- Select your reason for cancelling
- Confirm the cancellation
What Happens After Cancellation
If you haven't submitted any filings
Your subscription is cancelled immediately and your payment is refunded automatically. The refund typically appears on your statement within 5–10 business days.
If you've already submitted filings
Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. During this time:
- You can still access your documents and filing history
- No further payments will be taken
- You won't be able to submit new filings after the period ends
Cancelling Company Add-Ons
Add-on subscriptions (such as Confirmation Statements) are cancelled separately from your main plan. On the billing page, find the add-on under Company Add-Ons and click Cancel.
Reactivating a Cancelled Subscription
Changed your mind? If your subscription is scheduled to cancel at the end of your billing period, you can click Reactivate subscription on the billing page to resume it. No new payment is taken — your existing period continues as normal.
Common Questions
Q: I can't find the cancel button — where is it? A: Go to Billing & Subscriptions. The cancel option appears next to each active subscription. If you're having trouble, contact us at hello@clearbookstax.co.uk.
Q: Will I lose my data if I cancel? A: No. Your company data, filing history, and submitted documents are all kept. You can access them again if you resubscribe.
Q: Can I get a refund? A: If you haven't submitted any filings, your payment is refunded automatically when you cancel. If you've already filed, your subscription runs until the end of the period — no partial refunds are issued, but you keep full access until then.
Q: I only needed one filing — do I have to keep my subscription? A: No. You're welcome to cancel after filing. If you've submitted a filing, your subscription stays active until the end of the billing period, and you won't be charged again.
